Distance Learning
Return to In-Person Learning
The Wythe County School Board voted to return to
in-person instruction, 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday,Thursday and Friday), with a 2:00 pm dismissal every day beginning
Monday, January 25.
Wednesday will be a virtual learning day.
Families who choose to stay 100% Virtual will still have this option. All safety mitigation strategies for in-person learning will remain in effect.
WCPS will follow the Governor’s Executive Order 72 which maintains the requirement that individuals must wear masks while indoors at public and private school settings unless they qualify for a health or safety exemption. Masks will also be worn outdoors when 6ft. distancing cannot be maintained. WCPS will continue to follow any new guidance or executive orders issued and update our plans accordingly.
Wythe County Public Schools would like to thank ALL of our students, staff, and the school community for their cooperation and support! Together, we can continue to provide everyone with a safe, healthy, positive, and productive learning environment.
WCPS Inclement Weather Information
As winter weather approaches, WCPS will continue to monitor safety conditions
for our students and staff. At times, we will have traditional “snow days”. We feel it is important not to take the magic of a “snow day”
away so our children have something time-honored to remain in their lives. But there maybe times, especially when we can predict imminent weather coming, where we will have to utilize digital learning. This option may be used
when we have missed an excessive amount of days and in-person
learning is not feasible due to inclement weather.

Attendance Information
Effective October 27, WCPS Attendance Guidelines will resume. To be counted present in their classes, Distance Learners will need to attend live meetings in each class. If an In-Person or Distance Learner will be absent from class/school, the parent/guardian needs to inform the school and provide excuses if able. Please let your Principal know if you
are a Distance Learner who does not have the ability or
connectivity to attend live meetings.
In-Person students who will be absent due to approved reasons and who would like to attend that day virtually, will need a parent/guardian to notify the office before the beginning of the school day.
