Practical Nursing I (8357)

Prerequisites: Enrolled in or successfully completed Biology
In the first semester, students learn nursing care of patients of all ages, in various stages of sickness or wellness, and with a variety of disease conditions. They focus on human anatomy, body function, communication, community health, fundamental nursing skills, nutrition, drug therapy, and elementary medical-surgical nursing.
Practical Nursing II (8358)
Grade level: 12 Credit: 3
Prerequisite: Practical Nursing I
Students learn nursing care of patients of all ages, in various stages of sickness or wellness, with a variety of disease conditions. They focus on human anatomy, body function, communication, community health, fundamental nursing skills, nutrition, drug therapy and elementary medical-surgical nursing. Students have the option to enroll in dual credit nursing courses through Wytheville Community College. PNE 141, Nursing Skills I, PNE 142, Nursing Skills II, PNE 155, Body Structure and Function, and PNE 173, Pharmacology for Practical Nursing are offered at WCTC as optional dual credit classes in conjunction with WCC provided applicable prerequisites are met.
