Automotive Technology I (8506)

Grade level: 10*, 11 Credit: 3

Prerequisites: Algebra 1 and English 10 or concurrent enrollment in English 10

This course represents a large sampling of the competencies from National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation’s (NATEF) Maintenance and Light Repair accredited program. Students are provided instruction in portions of all automotive systems as they prepare for the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Student Certification. This is the first step in building a career as a service professional in the automotive service industry. Students will learn many aspects of general automotive fundamentals, automotive safety, customer service and workplace readiness skills.

Automotive Technology II (8507)

Grade level: 11, 12 Credit: 3

Prerequisites: Automotive Technology I

This course represents the advanced competencies from National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation’s (NATEF’s) Maintenance and Light Repair accredited program without redundancy from the prerequisite course. Students are provided instruction in all systems as they prepare for the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Student Certification. Successful completion of this course will result in program completion status and prepare students to pass the equivalent NATEF student exam and ultimately attain certification. 

 

Automotive Technology III (8508)

Grade Level: 12 Credit: 3

Prerequisites: Automotive Technology II (8507)

This course is available for students who have completed the first two courses in Automotive Technology. Students taking this course will build upon the skills learned in Automotive Technology I and II. The tasks taught represent the middle-tier standards of the National Automotive Technician’s Education Foundation’s (NATEF) Automotive Service Technology accredited program. Students are provided a deeper instruction of all automotive systems as they prepare for the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Student certification tests. Student’s successfully completing this course will be prepared for entry level positions into the automotive service industry.
